Jacksonville's WinterFEST 2012

Dreaming of a White Christmas? Will there be snow in Jacksonville this year? With projected lows in 40-degree range, the First Coast is unlikely to receive snowfall this Winter. Historical trends tend to agree, as the city of Jacksonville hasn't seen significant snow since December 1989 - with the exception of a few small flurries that quickly melted away.

Jacksonville may not be a likely candidate for snow this year, or any year in the future for that matter, but residents longing for flurries and Winter games can at least satisfy some of their cravings at Adventure Landing's WinterFEST 2012.

Note: The "snow" is actually bubbles generated by a bubble machine. The machines are located on the ice rink and in the "village."

Last year's event was so successful, the family-entertainment complex is hosting its second-annual WinterFEST, which features an artificial nightly snowfall and a number of other Winter treats.

WinterFEST 2012 opens on November 17 and runs until January 13th at Adventure Landing's Beach Blvd. location.

The full event and attraction schedule is available here.

Adventure Landing's WinterFEST has an outdoor ice skating rink featuring public skate times as well as professional ice shows and events. The venue's 130-foot Alpine Ice Slide lets visitors participate in thrilling sled-like races with family and friends, and the Blizzard Bluff Village offers cold-weather shopping with a realistic small-town feel.

In a nutshell, it's the closest thing to a Winter Wonderland you'll find in North Florida.

Christmas Carolers will be present on select weekends throughout WinterFEST and Santa's Workshop is open until the holiday runs its course.

The all-new Crystal Creek Lodge offers gourmet coffee, hot chocolate, tea and seasonal treats like pecan pie.

Other attractions include ornament and Christmas cookie decorating workshops, carnival-style Reindeer games (free), a teddy-bear factory, s'more roasting and a hologram light show.

WinterFEST's pricing varies -- Adventure Landing offers individual tickets for attractions such as ice skating, s'mores and crafts, as well as all-inclusive packages intended for families or couples. An individual unlimited wristband is available for $20.99 online, and a package for a family of four is available online for $49.99. In-person pricing may be slightly higher.

Tickets can also be purchased online at jaxwinterfest.com.

Adventure Landing members with a season pass will have access to all of WinterFEST's fun and games at no additional charge.

WinterFEST 2012 opens on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 2 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. You can stay in touch with Adventure Landing and get WinterFEST updates by following the company's official Facebook page.

The event is sponsored by Visit Jacksonville, the city's official marketing organization, the Rockaway Garden Center, Mint Magazine, the Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute, Buzz Magazine, Mellow Mushroom, Advantage Design Group and many others.
