Dogs, cats and ferrets in Jacksonville must be vaccinated for rabies and have city licenses renewed each year. For first-time rabies vaccinations, your veterinarian will either sell you a the City of Jacksonville Rabies Tag or provide you with the paperwork needed to purchase the tag from the Tax Collector. Licensing is important particularly during Florida's hurricane season because pet-friendly shelters only accept pets who are licensed and vaccinated.

Annual license fees are $15. Fees are waived for pet owners who are 62 or older, legally blind or 100 percent disabled. Pet license applications are available online. Call (904) 630-CITY (2489) with any additional questions.
