New Years Eve in Jacksonville - Bring on 2013!

By

Ready to put 2012 behind you? Check out these New Years Eve events in Jacksonville to say goodbye to 2012 and hello to 2013. Also of interest: our January 2013 event calendar.

Downtown Jacksonville Fireworks

Despite the fact that the city of Jacksonville stripped funding for the annual New Years Eve fireworks show, it will go on. Several local groups, according to the T-U's Gary Mills, will fund the show, including the Duval County Tourism Development Council and Visit Jacksonville, the city's official marketing agency. Things get started at the Jacksonville Landing at 10 p.m. and will run until 2 a.m.

Several parking garages will be open and offering parking spots for $10.

New Years Eve in Salt

Looking for a fine dining/entertainment option on New Years Eve? Salt, a fine-dining restaurant in Amelia Island (Ritz-Carlton), will feature a dinner and champagne toast at midnight. Tickets range from $125 per adult to $240 per adult. The first dinner starts at 6 p.m., and the second at 9 p.m.

Reservations are strongly recommended -- call (904)277-1100.

Nights of Lights, Wine and Carriage Tour

If you don't mind heading toward St. Augustine for New Years Eve, check out the Night of Lights, Wine and Carriage Tour. The 45-minute tour through St. Augustine includes wine (red or white). Tickets are $46 per person. The tour is provided by The Tasting Tours.

Synchronized Nightly Tree Light Show

As featured on our holiday event calendar, the synchronized light shows at the Jacksonville Landing will continue through New Years Eve. Watch the Jacksonville Landing's 56-foot tall Christmas Tree come alive for 10 minutes each hour. The Landing will likely be packed for the fireworks show, so get there early to find seating (or a place to stand).

PURE New Years Eve Red Carpet Premier

Join Club PURE for one of the city's hottest New Years Eve parties, including a champagne toast, red carpets and a balloon drop. Features all you can drink specials and party favors. The dance club is located in Baymeadows. Its official website is no longer active, but you can find information about PURE on the club's official Facebook page.

New Year's Eve Black and White Masquerade Ball

Join other Jacksonville residents for a masquerade ball inspired by Truman Capote's "Black and White" ball in 1996. Features music, food, an open bar and dancing. Black or white formal attired is strongly encouraged to flow with the party's theme. Masks will be provided. The cost is $195 per adult.

Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra: Toast to the New Year!

Join the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for great music and fun. The after-party includes hors d'oeuvres, champagne, live music and dancing -- all on a private balcony overlooking the fireworks show on the St. John's River.
