Sea shells, super heroes and homegrown Southern rock take center stage in the River City in June. There's plenty to enjoy with Dad this month to celebrate Father's Day. So grab your golf clubs, call your rowdy friends and get ready for music, movies and more. Hope you like pie.

Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival, through June 15

Worth the quick trip from Jacksonville, the Amelia Island Chamber Music Festival boasts world-renowned musicians and attracts music lovers nationwide. Don't miss Music Under the Tsars, June 13, starring Andres Diaz, a winner of the prestigious Avery Fisher Career Grant, and brother violinist Roberto Diaz, a regular collaborator with some of the world's mot important conductors and composers. The event wraps with the Americans in Paris gala hosted by the posh Ritz Carlton-Amelia Island. Ticket prices vary with each event.Event tickets start at $5. Americans in Paris gala tickets are $50 for the concert only, $150 for dinner and the show.

Father's Day / Women's Golf Month at World Golf Village, June 1-30

The World Golf Hall of Fame offers complimentary admission for everyone to the HOF museum and dads get one free ticket to IMAX Theatre plus a free Putting Course round. Hurry! The first 500 fathers receive gift bags chock full of discounts for local golf courses, shops and restaurants.Women get the royal treatment as well. Througout June, females age 14 and up enjoy complimentary golf instructin at the World Golf Village, Slammer & Squire and King & Bear golf courses. Optional women-friendly activities include an evening spa party at PGA TOUR Spa Laterra, luncheon and putting tournament, complimentary golf clinics by the PGA TOUR Golf Academy, cocktails and more. Event tickets range from $20 to $49, or $125 for a full month pass.

The Sound of Music at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre, through July 27

The inspiring true story of the spirited young governess who (literally) brings music to the lives of the stodgy Capt. von Trapp and his brooding seven-member brood hits the Jacksonville stage at the Alhambra Dinner Theatre. Go ahead, sing along. You know the words. Tickets range from $28 for Hot Tix reservations (seven days in advance) to $49 for evening curtain.

James Gregory at the Comedy Zone, June 13-14

Veteran comic James Gregory, aka "the most famous comedian America has never heard of," comes to the Comedy Zone located inside the Ramada Inn in Mandarin for 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. performances. Gregory brings his whimsical refections on life from the front porch to sold-out crowds nationwide 48 weeks a year. So get your tickets early. Prices range from $20 to $22 and there's a one-drink minium for each patron.

Rowdy Frynds, June 14

Jacksonville's native sons Lynyrd Skynyrd and country bad boy Hank Williams, Jr. play the Veterans Memorial Arena. It's the group's first hometown performance since landing a long awaited spot in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Tickets are $14.50-$71.50.

Mizuno 5K Championship / OE&S Run for the Pies 5K, June 14

Finally! A perfectly good reason to run a 5K. Break the time, get a pie. Serious runners start things off with the Mizuno 5K Championship, a twilight run starting at 7:30 p.m. Half an hour later, serious pie fans compete in nearly two dozen age groups from 10 and under to 80+. Top finishers in each race win cash prizes, Mizuno shoes and, of course, pies. There's also a pie carying, pie eating and pie costume contest. It all starts in front of The Jacksonville Landing Downtown.

Jacksonville Shell Show, June 14-15

Conchologists of America converge on the Morocco Shrine Temple for the two-day Jacksonville Shell Show. Avid enthusiasts show off their collections and compete for the prestigious William J. Clench Award, named for the late naturalist and cofounder of the American Malacological Society. Exhibits are open to all, free of charge, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Stick around Saturday evenging for cocktails, a banquet, silent auction and awards ceremony. Banquet tickets are $26 and must be purchased in advance.

Zoom a the Zoo Classic Car Show, June 14

The second annual, Zoom at the Zoo Classic Car Show revs things up from 10:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. It's a perfect way to celebrate Father's Day. Enjoy music, win a prize and cast your vote for the people's choice car contest. Best of all, it's all free of charge.

Melissa Etheridge at the Florida Theatre, June 19

Grammy Award and Oscar-winning entertainer Melissa Etheridge brings her Revival Tour to the Florida Theatre. Showtime is 8:00 p.m. and tickets range from $38.50 to $103.50. Downtown parking is sure to be at a premium for this one, so park early and have dinner nearby.

One & Only Genuine Original MOSH Party, June 21

Super heroes unite! Don your capes and fly over to MOSH for a family-friendly celebration. Marvel's Iron-Man makes a live appearance as do the Disc-Connected K9's Frisbee Dogs, Keith Kings BMX Stunt Team, the All Smiles Clown Company and some four-legged (and no-legged) friends from the he Jacksonville Herpetological Society. Hone your super hero skills with the Moonbounce, Bungee Run, Rock Wall or Virtual Surfing Simulator. And see a school bus-sized praying mantis in the Insect Giants exhibition. The annual bash raises funds for MOSH's educational progamming. Advance tickets are $20 per person, $75 for Family 4-Pack and $110 for a Family 6-Pack. Prices may jump at the door.
